FERNANDEL (1903-1971)
4 L.A.S. "Fernandel", Berlin 6-15 April and Vichy 3 September 1932, to the filmmaker Maurice CAMMAGE; 5 pages in-4, 3 headed Pension Imperial Berlin, and one headed Le comique Fernandel... Correspondence on film projects. Berlin April 6. He is very surprised not to have any news about the Magic Chair project. He is in Germany until the 20th, then returns to Paris to shoot Les Gaités de l'escadron with RAIMU, for Pathé. He asked if the film Vive la classe was working... April 11th. He regrets that he can't shoot the screenplay of Le Fauteuil magique, "which is nevertheless made for me and very cinematographic". He asks for another summary of the script, and he will see what he has available: "At the moment I hardly make any more first part films, but to be nice to you, if this script is really in my nature, I'd like to work for you again. For Les Gaités de l'escadron I have 10 days of work spread over three weeks"... April 15th. He has received the summary of the Gros Lot, which will make a good film, and he agrees to shoot it when he returns to France. He adds that he has "a ready-made music on which my brother-in-law could do the lyrics for a song to be inserted in the film at the shop when Anatole gets yelled at"... Vichy September 3rd: "Having received nothing more from you I assumed that you had given up the idea of shooting Le Chevalier Lafleur and something else and I signed for 3 years exclusively at Pathé"... An l.a.s. of his wife is attached (Berlin April 23, 1932).
