DEMACHY Robert (1859-1936)
3 L.A.S. "Robert Demachy", by the English photographer Frederick H. EVANS; 7 pages in-8 with the letterhead of the Photo-Club of Paris (some freckles); in English. He thanks Evans for his paragraph on architectural photography, and asks him what were his maximum and minimum exposures, and for the beginner, what is the average exposure? Does he find orthochromatic plates useful? He is flattered that Evans liked his dichromatic gum prints, but sometimes finds that etching helps... - He thanks for a glowing article. He would like to send him one of his gum prints, and asks him to lend some of his images from the Salon, for reproduction in the Journal of Photography... - He is very disappointed by the decision of the jury, who refused all but one architectural photograph, because of a curious lighting effect in the foreground. These gentlemen, almost all members of the two Painting Salons, represent personalities who try to resist any influence on their decision...
