PROVENANCE Collection privée, France, transmis par descendance Collection privée, Portugal GUSTAVE LOISEAU If Gustave Loiseau liked to depict series representing ports, churches or streets of Paris, he nevertheless illustrated himself as a maestro on several occasions in the representation of entirely rural landscapes. He dedicates all his attention to trees and the description of nature. We find in this artwork all the passion he dedicates to the seasons, and the care with which he has been able to represent each one of them. Here we are at the beginning of spring, nature comes out of its hibernation, green begins to appear in places. The ephemeral images of the foliage being washed ashore are captured by spontaneous, almost scrubbed brushstrokes. The chromatic variety of his palette, as well as the artist's gesture express his extraordinary ability to synthesize Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism.
