"...] I declare myself absolutely incompetent in matters of theatre as in matters of literature: letting myself be guided by a simple interest in things, I would appear, for example, as a play in this graphic form: [drawing], that is, a suite, a succession, a gradation, a narration. And on the other hand I would conceive a drama or comedy, etc. in this form: i.e. first of all a projection in what will be the essence of the drama, the reason for the play. Then the minor or immense and contrasting developments; finally a proclamation and a return to unity. The play, instead of a line, is then inscribed in a surface, or even in a prism. Prism built on a triangle, or a square, or a pentagon, etc. [...]"
