BRETON André (1896-1966)
Manifesto of Surrealism - Soluble Fish. Paris, éditions du Sagittaire, 1924, in-12 bound in wide margins. Original edition. One of the first 19 copies on pure vellum, this one justified out of trade, only edition on fine paper. Rare head copy of the founding work of surrealism. The author proposes in his manifesto to explore the poetic resources of a new method of word liberation: automatism. Breton gives Surrealism the mission of exploring this "writing without subject", this "raw ore" that reveals "the gold of thought".
