Mont de Piété, complete autograph manuscript with the first copy on Japan printed for André DERAIN, illustrator of the book. 35 pages handwritten in blue ink on pages lined and marked in red on a 48 pages small in-4 notebook. With typographical indications in pencil and annotations in ink. Faux-title with justification on the reverse in blue ink and pencil (erasures); title with "André Breton/Mont de Piété/(1913 - 1919)/addition by another hand in black ink: "With two original drawings by André Derain"/frame drawn in typographic pencil bearing the word "cliché"/Paris/Au Sans Pareil/102 rue du Cherche Midi/191919"; 1 page bearing on the front in black ink "1st drawing"; 29 pages with the 15 handwritten poems of the collection; 1 page bearing on the front the completed print of another hand in black ink and "2nd drawing"; 1 white page; 1 page bearing on the front the hand of Breton: "Printed on/mil nine hundred and nineteen ninees/per". Back folder, red morocco spine, gilt title. (Paper uniformly yellowed; mute cover plates slightly detached in the lower part. Precious complete and unique manuscript, carefully calligraphed by André Breton for printing, of his very first book. There are disparate copies of each of these poems, on loose sheets, but this manuscript is the only one that is complete and homogeneous. It was very carefully developed by André Breton, who reproduced by hand the graphic aspect he wanted his poems to have. The 15 poems that make up the collection are all here in their final printed version with two small variants of dedications: the dedication of the poem Age to Léon-Paul Fargue has been removed from the edition and the dedication to Tristan Tzara does not appear in the manuscript. 14 of the 15 poems had appeared in earlier reviews, only the prose poem Une maison peu solide is unpublished. - Mont de Piété (1913-1919) with two unpublished drawings by André DERAIN.
