BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN (1770-1827).
L.A.S. "Beethoven",[Baden early September 1823], to Franz Christian KIRCHHOFFER; 1 oblong page in-4, address on the back (fold marks and small hole, letter very well restored and finely doubled on the back, address covered); in German. Letter concerning the sending of the Missa solemnis to London. [Kirchhoffer was a cashier at the Hofmann & Goldstein Bank in Vienna, and he helped Beethoven several times in 1823 to send music to their friend Ferdinand RIES (1784-1838) in London, and to transfer money. The idea here is to send the Missa solemnis op. 123, which Beethoven has just completed, to London to Ferdinand Ries in order to find a publisher.] "Mein werther Kirchhoffer. Beethoven asked Kirchhoffer to find out if it would not be possible to send a package to London through the English Embassy. He will send the answer to this question. He invites her to come to his house for dinner on Sunday with his nephew Karl. The weather seems to be getting better and better, and his presence would be a great pleasure for both of them....
