KAHLO Frida (1907-1954)
Signed autograph letter, signed « Frida », Coyoacan, 22 June 1939, to Julien LEVY ; 1 page in-4 format on decorated ganfered lace paper; in English. Fine letter written to Julien Levy, a gallery owner in New York with whom she worked. “Julian darling, When are you coming to Mexico? I miss you beyond words … I will be less sad in this damn town.” Frida Kahlo asks about the gallery’s activity: “You told me that you were working like hell on the Fair. But what happened, what did you do with Dali?” She asks for records of Maxime SULLIVAN and that he not forget her: “I have the portrait of the three moons always near me. Love. Frida.” Once Frida came back from Paris, she soon realized that her relation with Diego Rivera became for worst and eventually divorced. Only a week before this letter to Levy, she also received confirmation that her beloved Nickolas Muray, the Hungarian-born American photographer, had married. She felt more lonesome than ever and misplaced in Mexico, among Rivera’s friends, and therefore missed New York, Levy and his music
