BROWN HERBERT CHARLES (1912-2004). Chimiste américain (co-lauréat avec George Wittig du Prix Nobel 1979).
Autograph MANUSCRIPT, signed « Herbert C. Brown », New Continent Awaiting Discovery, [1992] ; 9 pages in-4 format, stapled; in English. Account of his work on the chemistry of boranes. This text underscores the importance of higher level research and was originally destined to be published in a collective work (as indicated in red pen at the beginning) by Purdue University (Purdue Visions). Brown discusses his own studies and what he owes to Professor Julius STIEGLITZ and his fiancée who supported his choice to study the chemistry of boranes for his PhD. This allowed for an in-depth study of this new « continent » along with his students, resulting in the Nobel Prize and the hope to revolutionize the pharmaceutical industry. He believes there are other research fields that await discovery and he wishes young researchers the best of luck.
