FINDING OUT ABOUT UPCOMING SALES

Since auctions are public, access is free, and anyone can thus take part.

Sale dates are announced in our schedule, and targeted advertisements are published in the Hôtel Drouot Gazette and other appropriate media.

With important sales, catalogues are published and disseminated online.
If you would like to be informed automatically of our upcoming sales, you can register for our newsletter here..
You will then receive announcements of the sales that interest you, together with photos and descriptions of the lots on offer.
You can also obtain printed versions of these catalogues from our Neuilly and Lyon offices and Drouot-Richelieu, or view them online on this website.

SEEING OBJECTS

Public exhibitions are laid on, and if you prefer, appointments for private visits can often be arranged as well.

It is strongly recommended to come to the sale exhibition to examine the objects (in general the day before and the morning of each sale). Dates and times are indicated in the catalogue and the various advertisements for the sales.

Members of the auction house present at the exhibition, together with experts and the auctioneer, will be happy to provide information on the objects, their period and their condition.

Buying conditions

On top of the hammer price, successful bidders pay costs that generally amount to 22.91 % excluding tax (27.51 % including tax), and which are specified in the conditions shown in the catalogue.
The information indicated in the catalogue legally engages the responsibility of the joint stock company Claude Aguttes and its expert, including any corrections announced when the object is presented and marked in the sale report.
Any special conditions are indicated at the end of each catalogue, and can be seen online. Anyone wishing to participate in a sale should take note of these beforehand.

BIDDING

If you yourself wish to bid at the sale, the approximate time when the object that interests you is due to appear will be indicated to you on request.

There are various options.

You can bid in person – in which case, with your first purchase in the auction room, you will be given a paddle, enabling you to continue bidding during the sale. In some cases, indicated in the catalogue, a prior registration is required.

If you are unable to come to the sale, you can contact the sale supervisor, indicated in the catalogue, and give him or her an absentee bid for a given amount. This will be carried out at no cost, and you will be given the result the day after the sale.

You can also ask to be called in order to bid at the sale by telephone. This means that you can bid in person, but anonymously.
A request for a telephone line implies that the bidder will be a buyer at the price of the low estimate in the event of a bad connection. You can also register to bid live on www.drouotlive.com
In all three cases, you must make a written request, including your bank details, at least 24 hours before the sale, and send it to the following address: bid@aguttes.com (and for sales held in Lyon: bidlyon@aguttes.com)
